A new way of being and seeing that leaves no one outside our circle of care. We need a shift in consciousness and culture. Sound government is necessary but not sufficient to transition us. I believe that we can birth that world together. A society awakened to the truth of our interdependence. Other days, I see glimpses of the nation, the world, wanting to be born. Some days are so deadly, I can taste the ash in my mouth. Is this the darkness of the tomb – or of the womb? I have fought for racial justice for twenty years. And I’m so grateful to be in this with you. In the last few days, I met with a group of elders at Sage-ing, faith leaders at the Charter for Compassion, and students at Tufts University. And that we can move through the world, and each day of our lives, with love as our compass! I realized she had never stopped laboring for me, from my birth to his. Right there in the hospital room, my mother began to feed me - feeding her baby as I fed mine! I looked at her in wonder. I am falling in love! And I was! In the meantime, my mother was taking out the dahl she had cooked for me. The moment my son was placed on my chest, I remember shaking and sobbing and laughing. And oh, each time was delicious and delirious! ![]() ![]() My beloved dog Shadi. And the moment my babies were born. I have fallen in love a few times in my life.
